He is sitting in the presidential chair (center) with Zapata in the vice-presidential chair (to his left). It is said to be his symbol to mexico at the time of wanting to take the presidential seat with Zapata as his right hand man. This was part of what led to both of their assasinations.
This is a picture of the women of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. It was said that they did play a big part in the revolution in many of ways. One of them being in combat.
The first picture is a monument dedicated to Los Ninos Heroes (The Boy Heroes). They were six teenage military cadets who tried to stand their ground in attempt to stop the Americans from invading Mexico City at the end of the Mexican-American War. All were everntualy killed leaving one of them (Juan Escutia) to wrap the mexican flag around himself and jump to his death to avoid being taken by the americans. The Americans eventualy did take over Mexico City since there was no clear president at the time. An interim president was assigned in order to sign the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The bill was offered by the americans to also pruchase the the New Mexico Teritory for half the price that was originaly offered.
